armadillo&co launches new sherpa weave
Much loved Australian fair-trade and sustainable rug company Armadillo&Co has introduced a new weave – Sherpa – to their Earth collection.
Designed to provide texture and warmth to interior spaces, Sherpa’s pattern is delicate but hardwearing, making it suitable for living rooms, bedrooms or rumpus rooms.
Hand-woven in India using age-old techniques, Sherpa is inspired by mountainous landscapes. “It’s a natural extension of our Sierra weave with its subtle, flat geometry,” says Jodie Fried, the brand’s co-founder.
“Sherpa is lovely to walk on, it’s so soft and thick,” says Sally Pottharst, the other half of Armadillo&Co’s design duo. “This is in part from the weave and also from the backing, which gives it extra strength and a wonderful durability.”
Armadillo&Co helps support families to continue their weaving tradition and returns all profits to local village employees to aid with schooling and health.
“We help those who create for us, create a better future for themselves,” says Jodie.
Armadillo&Co is available at Project82 and Project 82 Trade.
